Introduction
How many times have you started to call out an answer in class and all of a sudden you don’t remember the answer?
You know that you know the information but you just can’t get the answer out! It’s frustrating, isn’t it?
In this lesson you will take a look at some of the problems that can occur when you try to retrieve information from memory. You will also explore some of the reasons you “forget” what you have learned.
Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Describe how information is retrieved from memory
- Explain how memories can be reconstructed and misremembered
- Differentiate among the types of amnesia
- Identify different parts of the brain that store memory
The above objectives correspond with the Alabama Course of Study: Psychology: Objective: 7, 7.7, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6 and 7.7.
