Introduction
In the previous section, the properties of the graphs of the sine and cosine trigonometric functions were discussed. In this section we will expand our study to the tangent and cotangent functions, as well as the reciprocal functions of secant and cosecant.
We've already looked at how the components of the sine and cosine functions transform those graphs. Let's examine the impact of parts of the function on the graphs of other trig functions. You'll do this using Illuminations: Trigonometric Graphing.
Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to...
- Sketch the graph of tangent functions
- Sketch the graph of cotangent functions
- Sketch the graph of cosecant functions
- Sketch the graph of secant functions
The above objectives correspond with the Alabama Course of Study: Precalculus standards: 18d, 26.
