Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Solving problems for velocity, acceleration, force, work and power.

This lesson correlates to ACOS 7Relate velocity, accleration, and kinetic energy to mass, distance, force and time. and ACOS 7B2Solving problems for velocity, acceleration, force, work an power.

Introduction

As we have learned, when a force acts upon an object, it causes a change in velocity. A push or a pull will cause an object to speed up, slow down or turn. When a force causes a change, work is done. Work is defined as force acting through a distance. As long as the force is acting, the object is changing, and work is being done.
