  1. Thirty-nine of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution. Luther Martin, Elbridge Gerry, George Mason among others refused to sign and led the fight against its ratification. Edmund Randolph also refused to sign, but later switched sides and supported ratification in the Virginia convention.
  2. Benjamin Franklin was another key player at the Constitutional Convention.
  3. George Washington presided over the Convention.
