Introduction

Do you remember how to say the date in German? Remember that in German, you simply use der + number + te + month to say the date (up through 19; from 20 on, it's number + ste), except for three days of each month. They are der erste (first), dritte (third), and siebte (seventh). Rollover the dates below to review.

It's April 30thEr ist der dreißigste April.

It's May 10thEr ist der zehnte Mai.

It's June 16thEr ist der sechzehnte Juni.

It's December 25thEr ist der fünfundzwanzigste Dezember.

In this lesson, you will have a chance to review how to say the date in German and then learn how to talk about your birthdate.

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Tell when their birthday is and when their family members have birthdays.

The above objectives correspond with the following Alabama Course of Study: Modern Languages Level I Objectives: 3, 5, 6, 8, & 9.
