Introduction

In this lesson, we'll look at relationships between angles. To start, go to Geogebra - Adjacent angles.

  1. What do these two angles have in common? What do they share?
  2. Adjust the angles by dragging points B, C, and D. What do you notice about the angle measures? How are they related?

We'll look at this relationship in more depth in this lesson.

Lesson Objectives

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to...

  • Identify adjacent angles, congruent angles, and angle bisectors.
  • Find the measure of an angle given an angle bisector.

Essential Questions

  • How do properties of lines and angles relate to basic shapes?
  • How can you find the lengths and midpoints of segments?
  • How can you measure of angles?
  • How can lines and angles be classified?

Enduring Understandings

  • The mathematical relationship between angles can be used to solve geometry problems.

The above objectives correspond with the Alabama Course of Study: Geometry with Data Analysis standards: 30.
