Introduction

A football field is 100 yards long from goal line to goal line. Midfield is at the 50 yard line.

If your team has the football on its own 40 yard line, what is the distance your team must travel to make a touchdown? We will learn more about segment distance in this lesson.

Go to the 1.02 Discussion: Distance to the Goal. Answer the question in tab 1: If your team has the football on its own 40 yard line, what is the distance your team must travel to make a touchdown?

Post how you came up with your answer and how a penalty on the next play might affect the distance to the goal line. Then read the responses of two other classmates. Critique their answers, including pointing out mistakes or additional information to support their answer.
