Introduction

Friend or the friend? Televison or the television? Calendar or the calendar? The words seem similar, but as you will learn, articles such as the word the, are often omitted in English, but they are necessary in French. In this lesson, you will learn the four definite articles (le, la, l', and les), which correspond to the word the in English.



Lesson Objectives

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • identify the correct definite article for a given noun.
  • identify the location of the Eiffel Tower.
  • name the world's record held by the Eiffel Tower for 40 years.
