Complete the 8.03 Tree Defects assignment and submit it to the 8.03 Tree Defects Dropbox.

Read pages 8-13 of the Conducting a Simple Timber Inventory article and the vocabulary terms in the boxes on the right side of pages 4 and 5. You will read this article and use the vocabulary in your story board to gain an understanding of what it takes to cruise a stand of timber.

Once you have read the article you are going to pretend that you are a forester and will create a story board about cruising a stand of timber. You may create your storyboard in a Word document or PowerPoint presentation.

Your storyboard should contain the following:

  • Three paragraphs, telling about cruising timber. This will be a way for you to "brainstorm" your story and give a clear picture of how cruising timber occurs.
  • At least 12 different pictures. Pictures may come from web sites, such as Forestry Images, or you may use self-made computer or hand drawn images.
  • At least 10 of the 19 vocabulary words listed on pages 4-5 to describe each picture. Of course, the definitions must be rephrased in your own words to tell the story of cruising an area of timber land.

When you are finished, submit your work to the 8.03 Timber Cruising Dropbox. Your work will be assessed using the Timber Cruising scoring rubric.
