Introduction
Have you ever collected leaves? What about picking fruit from a tree like an apple or pear? Have you ever collected pinecones or cut branches off of a tree for decorating during the winter season? Have you ever used branches for a camp fire?
All these parts of a tree can be used to help identify the tree. In fact, every part can help us determine the type of tree.
Trees have a variety of parts that allow us to not only identify them, but to also understand how a tree functions. Each unique part of a tree has a job that it performs throughout the year to ensure that the next generation of seeds are able to grow and reproduce.
Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to...
