Introduction
Every time you turn on a light, cook a meal, ride to school in a bus or car, turn on your heat or air, or take a warm shower, you are responsible for increasing levels of pollutants in the Earth’s atmosphere.
All of these activities require that fossil fuels undergo combustion. During combustion, energy is released to help you complete these tasks and at the same time, byproducts are also released. These byproducts, such as carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere and negatively impact the environment.
In this lesson, you will learn more about how the different byproducts released in the combustion of fossil fuels affect the environment and the other organisms in it.
