Soils are unique to their environment. This largely explains why some plants grow better in some areas than others and not at all in some places. Some countries and areas of the world are known for certain foods or spices that can only be made from ingredients from that particular region. The fruits and vegetables used for everyday cooking vary greatly as you travel the world.
