Introduction

Most people anywhere in the world have heard of William Shakespeare, whether they have read any of his works or not. You've already read two of his sonnets, of which there are one hundred and fifty-four. He also wrote four long narrative poems and thirty-seven plays. Modern critics have referred to him as the "genius of the English race," and most regard him as the greatest of all playwrights. In this lesson you'll learn more about the life of Shakespeare.
