Each year, FORTUNE magazine compiles a list of the 500 largest corporations in the United States and ranks them by the amount of revenue they generated during the year. Collectively, these corporations are known as the Fortune 500.

In recent years, well-known brands such as ExxonMobil, Walmart, General Electric and Chevron have been ranked near the top of the list. To be a Fortune 500 company is widely considered a mark of prestige. The collective performance of the Fortune 500 companies may be seen as one indicator of the country's overall economic performance.

Use the information you find on the two resources below to complete 4.01 Corporations.

1. Fortune 500

2. Gross Domestic Product

You will learn in later lessons the specifics of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). For this assignment simply know that GDP for a country is the value of everything a country produces in a given year. To give you an idea about how large some of the corporations are, you will be asked to compare the sales for certain companies against the value of entire countries.

When you finish the task, submit it to the 4.01 Corporations Dropbox.

You should visit the website of the company you choose to learn more specific information.
