Chicago skyline

In this unit, we will travel to the bustling city of Chicago, Illinois.  Chicago is located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the heart of the Midwest.  Chicago is home to world class sports teams, renowned architecture, famous theater houses, and great shopping.

Chicago is often called the Windy city and it contains nearly 10 million people who live in the Chicago area, which includes parts of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.   The world's first Ferris wheel was debuted at the 1893 World's Fair and today, a replica of the Ferris wheel is located at Navy Pier, a famous tourist area of the city.  Chicago is home to Willis Tower, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, which stands at 110 stories high.  This building also has the fastest elevator in the world operating at 1,600 feet per minute.  From the sky deck of the Willis Tower, you can see four states: Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Additionally, Chicago is very famous for the two professional baseball teams, the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs.
