Background
Before you can begin writing for television and film, you need to acquire the vocabulary of the medium of moving images.
Think about how many shots you normally see in the filming of two characters talking. Usually, you start off with a shot that allows you to see both characters in relation to their environment. As the conversation progresses, you might see back and forth close-ups of each character as they speak or react to what the other character has said. You might see an extreme close-up of someone's eyes or a cutaway shot to a character's watch as he glances down at his wrist. By changing camera shots, angles, and movements, you have a better chance of keeping your audience interested.
