Introduction
Once you have successfully completed the employment process and gained a job, you must make sure you understand and continue appropriate social protocols which include a code of behavior, manners, etiquette, and rules of conduct and proper workplace behaviors.
To increase your chances of being offered a position, you should exhibit a neat appearance, good manners, proper attitude, and acceptable, verbal and non-verbal, communication in the interview.
Appropriate behavior in the workplace is expected. Any inappropriate behavior could be subject to discipline and, or, dismissal. Common sense dictates that you should understand and be willing to meet the expectations of the employer by exhibiting proper workplace etiquette politeness, manners, and customs especially in today's diverse society. Your attitude, work ethic, personal integrity, and responsibility to the job, as well as your coworkers and management team, is crucial for on-the-job success. Even your adherence to the dress code is considered part of acceptable workplace conduct.
Good communication skills are essential in maintaining relationships, diffusing situations or clearing up misunderstandings. However, in the event that you encounter improper remarks, uncomfortable touching, degrading or threating comments, bullying or harassment from your coworkers or management, know that there are also policies and procedures to address these issues and prevent them from escalating.
