Sharing
Sharing isn't all bad. It can be a positive way to express yourself and collaborate with others who have the same ideas and interests. Some apps allow you to share crafts, art, home decorating, home improvement, and all kinds of ideas with like-minded people. Many businesses also readily use these apps as an extension of their advertising. These types of apps are easy to use, free of charge and seen worldwide.
Technology
Technology is great, but it must be used safely, ethically, and legally. Most companies, large and small, have a web presence. For example, hospitals, large corporations, schools, dentists, churches, libraries, real estate agents, and even nail salons use this type of marketing every day. In addition, many companies use some type of social media connected to their website. Have you ever seen radio stations tweeting out free concert tickets, or dentists that post pictures of children winning certificates for a great check-up? Social media is one of the best ways to advertise because it reaches out to the entire world of customers at no additional expense. Really, what did we ever do without all this technology?
Soical Media
Even though you have access to many different social media platforms, it may not always be appropriate to access them. Businesses, schools, libraries, and almost all places that have computers will have acceptable use policies for users. Your school should have an agreement in your student handbook. When at work, at school, or on the job you will be given this policy and be expected to follow the guidelines. If not, you will be warned, disciplined or fired depending on your activity and time involved.
Common Sense
In general, you are expected to use common sense decisions in using public computers. You should refrain from using them for unethical morally wrong; not the right thing to do and illegal forbidden by law activities. Misuse of company time and violation of company Internet policies are among the main reasons for dismissal by unethical behavior. Unethical practices would include wasting your employer's time by personal shopping, watching videos, playing games, browsing the web, checking your personal email and social media accounts, using company email for personal reasons, and other such behaviors.
Illegal Practices
Illegal practices cover anything that breaks the law. They might range from Internet gambling, browsing unacceptable sites, downloading inappropriate photos, or committing blackmail or fraudulent activity. There are many documented instances where employees have been dismissed for the inappropriate use of the Internet in the workplace. Remember that every move made online can be tracked and IP addresses can be traced. You have probably seen enough movies and television shows to know how this works.
