A slide show should include less than half the text that a report would contain. Only key points should be listed on the slide, similar to an outline. Slides should contain only the significant points to adequately, yet concisely, cover the subject.
The audience prefers not to read long passages of text onscreen. And remember, the presenter will further explain the key points.
With that in mind, here are some recommendations:
- Use Size 28 to 34 font
- One main idea per slide
- Too much text makes the slide unreadable
- Use short phrases instead of complete sentences
- Use a consistent design throughout
- Follow 7 X 7 Rule no more than 7 words per line and no more than 7 lines per slide
