External Data, Importing, and Exporting
You may be thinking that importing and exporting files from spreadsheets to databases is a difficult task. It isn't!
- Importing and exporting files has the same concept as uploading or downloading pictures or videos from one source to another.
- You have uploaded pictures from a camera to a computer or uploaded pictures from a computer to Facebook or other programs.
- If you approach this task with that concept in mind, then it isn't as intimidating, and you can accomplish the task easily.
The basic concept is to copy the data from one application and then paste it into the other application. For example, copy spreadsheet data and then paste it into a database.
In OpenOffice, it is copying and pasting.
However, in Microsoft Office, there is an External Data tab. This tab gives you options for importing and exporting files. There is a section for importing and a section for exporting.
You will also notice that there is an icon specifically for spreadsheets.
