• Define histology as the study of the classification of tissues in the body.
• Distinguish between the four main types of tissue in the body.
• Identify the basic function of each tissue type and location.
• Distinguish between the different types of epithelium, connective, muscular, and nervous tissues.
• Identify and describe the function of major structures within each of the four types of tissue.
• Compare and contrast epithelial tissue to connective tissue.
