In the previous Unit, you learned to solve quadratic equations by factoring and graphing. While all quadratic equations are solvable, some are not solvable using factoring or graphing. How do you solve quadratic equations when factoring or graphing doesn't work? You will explore this exact question in this Unit. You will also explore applications of quadratic equations in order to see how quadratic equations are used in the real-world.

 

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Complete the square to reveal the maximum or minimum value of the function.
  • Solve quadratic equations by completing the square.
