Other Types of Eating Disorders
Statistics show that about fifty percent of people with disordered eating patterns fall under the category of EDNOS or Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified. If these behaviors continue there is a high risk of progressing to a more severe eating disorder. This category is defined as eating behaviors that do not meet the criteria of the three main disorders that were just covered in the previous activity. It is similar to anorexia except regular monthly menses continue and body weight is often normal. Symptoms of bulemia can occur, but binges are less often and for shorter periods of time. Other signs are self-induced vomiting after eating a regular portion of dessert or chewing and spitting out food without swallowing it.
