Bank Statements and Imaged Checksgraphic of a bank statement.

A bank statement is a copy of all transactions issued by the bank to the depositors. This statement provides information on all transactions in the depositors account for a given period (normally a month). The bank statement should be filed for proof in the future period. The bank statement includes:

  • The balance at the beginning of the period on check account.
  • A list of all deposits during the period.
  • A list of all checks on which payments were made by the bank.
  • The balance at the end of the period on the check account.

Imaged Checks
A bank may send the cancelled checks that it paid and deducted from the depositor's account. Instead of sending the actual checks, many banks send images of the original checks called imaged checks or substitute checks.
