As part of our continuing commitment to protect student privacy, the College Board will stop including student Social Security numbers in official score reports in the 2018-19 school year, starting with Advanced Placement® reports in July 2018. We're letting you know now so you have time to adjust your systems and processes, if necessary.
Mid-July 2018: AP® student data files in the Online Score Reporting for Educators portal will no longer include Social Security numbers. This change will coincide with the release of AP scores for the May 2018 exam administration. Prior year data files will also cease to include Social Security numbers.
To minimize the impact to your systems and processes, the Social Security number field will remain in the file layout so your data file layout remains the same, but the field will be blank starting in July 2018. To help your school or district make a smooth transition, please refer to this guide (.pdf/214.2KB) on matching your student data without Social Security numbers. We'll provide further details about your data file layouts as we approach the date of these changes in July 2018.
If you have any questions, please email AP Services for Educators at email@example.com.
